Someone To Love At Christmas

~ Soft rock ballad, Christmas ~ 2004-10-23

Being alone at Christmas is just about the loneliest feeling ever. But there is always hope.

Lyrics

Oh, Christmas
Can be such a lonely time
If you don't have someone to love
Somehow it just doesn't all seem real

I see the children playing
and the people smiling
and the fam'lies sharing
and the lovers loving

Where's my love like that?
I should have someone of my own
Where's the joy they seem to feel?
And why am I here all alone?

I should find someone
Who could love all that I can be
Because I've got so much to give -
Could there be someone needing me?

Because I need someone to love
At Christmas
At Christmas

So I stand here with my Grinch feet all ice cold in the snow
And I puzzle and I puzzle - how can it be so?

Are my shoes too tight?
Is my heart too small?
Is my head on right?
Can I feel at all?

Is my life a waste?
Is there any chance?
Is there any hope
I can join the dance?

Tell me, Christmas spirit,
Don't let it be too late
If I start right now
Can I change my fate?

Because I need someone to love
At Christmas
At Christmas

The birth of a baby
Who would show the way
Who would teach us love
And change our hearts today

The death of a Savior
Who would have no sin
Who would give his all
And would free all men

The rise of a hero
Who will conquer pain
Who overcame the grave
And now he lives again!

He will save the world
But can he save me?

Springtime and Summer
I guess I can survive on my own
Then Fall turns into Winter
And I find I'm feeling so alone.

Then it's Christmas time,
And I believe I never will survive

Christmas is for love,
More than any other season.
So I'm desperately longing,
With a hope beyond all reason.

I need someone to love
At Christmas
At Christmas

Christmas is for love,
More than any other season.
So I'm desperately longing,
With a hope beyond all reason.

I need someone to love
At Christmas
At Christmas
At Christmas.

Notes / Back story

Separated, but not yet divorced. Living in a house not much bigger than a cardboard box and only seeing my kids on the weekends. It was not my favorite time... so I wrote a song about it!
