Rise To The Climb

~ religious anthem ~ 2010-12-03

Put on the full armor of God to face the challenges of this day. Dedicated to the Nutty Putty Cyclers.

Lyrics

Rise to the climing of the challenge of our youth
We are ready and are sure that we will win!
Rise to the time when we must recognize the truth
We are ready for the battle to begin!

Battle to begin,
The battle to begin
We're ready for the battle to begin!

With confidence and cheer,
Prepared we shall not fear
Ready for the battle to begin!

Taking the shield of faith and spirit like a sword
We are ready and are sure that we will win!
Bound up in virtue and protected by His word
We are ready for the battle to begin!

Battle to begin,
The battle to begin
We're ready for the battle to begin!

May the helmet of salvation
Preserve us as a nation
Ready for the battle to begin!

Will you join us now?
Oh, will you join us now?
Will you join us now?

None are motivated by a greater cause than this
We are ready and are sure that we will win!
Stand by our gen'ral and the victory is His.
We are ready for the battle to begin!

Battle to begin,
The battle to begin
We're ready for the battle to begin!

Standing brave and strong,
For the journey may be long!
Ready for the battle to begin!

In mem'ry of our God,
Our freedom and our peace
Our wives and our children,
Our stuggle shall not cease!

We are ready for the battle to begin!
Ready for the battle to begin!
Ready for the battle to begin!

Notes / Back story

So my wife Danielle heard through Facebook that a group of 4 young men were cycling their way from coast to coast to raise money and awareness for the Liz Logelin Foundaition, which raises money for people whose spouses die early and unexpected deaths, leaving young children behind. A family member of one of the boys had recently died after getting stuck in the Nutty Putty Cave in Utah.

The guys were looking for volunteers to house them for one night on their journey, and we volunteered. The night they stayed with us I played them a bunch of my songs, which they really seemed to enjoy. The next morning I woke up with this song in my head. On their way out of town, Danielle and I followed them in the car and shot a bunch of video.

The song and video all came together very quickly, and before they arrived in California the following week I had finished it and uploaded it to YouTube for them.

I guess what impressed me was that 4 wholesome young men with good standards were taking on a great physical and emotional challenge. I think that more of our youth should take the time and effort to do really hard things. There is a lot to be learned from such experiences.
