How Pale The Wind
~ piano, soft rock ballad, religious ~ 2011-05-12
How can we compare the strength of God's love to the riches of the world? Written by Marvin Payne.
My dad used to play this record for me when I was little, and I kept on listening as I grew up. I truly love this song and am thankful for all it has meant in my life.
When I was in college I transcribed it from the record into an old notation program. Recently when I was reviving The Golden Chance it jogged my memory on other old songs that I worked on during that time such as this one and I thought, "Yeah."
I hope that as you listen you will take a minute to be at peace and allow yourself to feel and believe. I hope Marvin doesn't mind. (See the FAQ on my greatest musical influences for more info about him.)
How pale the wind against a morning sky
The dark so thin against the stars
And all the gold and precious things of Earth
Against your love, how pale and thin they are.
How strange it seems that you should offer me
Your sacred dreams and golden shores
When I'm so low, don't even know you well
What greater love? What greater love than yours?
They said your star would fall
Down through the trees
And I'd have nothing to see by
I stood and watched it fall
Then your sun arose like laughter in us all.
How pale the wind against a morning sky
The dark so thin against the stars
And all the gold and precious things of Earth
Against your love, how pale and thin they are.
And all the gold and precious things of Earth
Against your love, how pale and thin they are.
